Hello everyone, As you might recall, I sent out a message a couple of months ago asking if anyone would like to get together during AAAI time. The arrangement was that we'd meet in the lobby of the main conference hotel (Westin) at 7PM on Tuesday. Anyone that wants to turn up is more than welcome. I've just had word from TI asking what was going on/if they could help. TI have said that they're more than prepared to front the operation to the tune of booking a room at their hotel, getting the beer and Pizzas in and, if desired, getting some TIites to show. Now, I don't know what it was that appealed to those who had originally replied to me that they'd like to turn up. Was this because: a) there wasn't going to be anything better. b) the fact that this had nothing to do with TI was a big win. c) informallity seemed like a good idea d.... I mentioned to TI that I thought that previous occasions had been spoiled by the heavyweight blue-suited feel of the event (just my opinion) and they responded that they could arrange to have real, technical types show up if we wanted. So, here are the options:- a) Do what we had planned; go out for Pizza (optionally taking some TIites with us). Pay. Don't get to play with any machines. b) Accept the freebee. Hold the event in TI's hotel. Have TI types there. Play with any machines that they may be able to set up for us (show each other what we've done). c) Something else. What do you vote? We'd like to know so that TI can get the ball rolling if they need to. Rice. P.S. I'd vote for going out to dinner, trying to minimise the number of blue suits and trying to get TI to find some time for us to play on their machines (there isn't going to be a hacker suite this year). I'd really like to see what other's have been up to. P.P.S. Does anyone know where to get good Pizza in Detroit? P.P.P.S. I don't even like Pizza [this is an act of supreme altruism on my part]. I hope that Pizza establishments have something else to offer.
