[comp.sys.ti.explorer] $$$$$$$$$$ You too can make them

rice@SUMEX-AIM.STANFORD.EDU (James Rice) (07/25/89)

Hello everyone, {Some uninhibited commercialism coming up. Please
skip this if you are of a sensitive disposition. I know that
commercial announcements are not usually encouraged on this medium but
this seems of substantial interest to the readership of this list.}

As you may know, many of the users of TI Explorers are people who work
at academic institutions or are students. Such establishments often
have rather generous policies when it comes to external consultancy.
In fact, some readers of this list might even be independent
consultants for all I know. This is all only useful to the
individual, of course, if he can make the right connection to those
needing the consultants/hackers.

TI has a fairly large KE department internally, but due to a certain
amount of retrenchment they are now no longer taking work from anyone
other than the big boys. This puts TI in the position of having lots
of machine owners who don't know how to use their machines (let's face
it) and noone to show them how to do it. Similarly, there are bound
to be Explorer users who would like to be able to take advantage of
specialised AIoid knowledge held by subdry people in research
establishments.

Ok, here's our chance. TI (or actually John Mandell) has detected
that both TI's and our best interests would be served if TI could keep
its customers happy by putting them in contact with consultants who
could help them out. The idea is, therefore, that TI will collect
a dossier of CVs/Resum\'es and distribute them to its sales force.

Clearly, maybe nothing will come of this but it seems like a good
opportunity for both TI and we poorly types to be of mutual advantage.

The plan, such as it is, is that we send copies of our CVs to JM.
He'll whip them all into some sort of coherent shape and then he'll
send them out to the sales types.

Ok, here's what to do:
Send your (suitably hyperbolic) CV to JM at
	John.Mandell%C15@TIMsg.CSC.TI.Com

  His snail mail address is
	12501 Research Boulevard,
	P.O. Box 2909, MS 2107,
	Austin,
	Texas 78769.
though my guess is that a m/c readable version would be of more
  use to TI.

I hope that this works out.

Rice.
