[net.games.rogue] 9.0 pack objects glow?

djmolny@wnuxb.UUCP (Molny) (06/19/84)

A few weeks ago, I was playing Super-Rogue 9.0 and (I think) read a scroll
that caused my pack or all the objects in my pack to glow or vibrate (sorry
it's been so long that I don't remember it exactly). Afterwards, every object
in the pack was identified and has the notation "[+]" after it. What happened?
What was the scroll called? What does the plus sign mean? Thanks much.

The scroll is called "Gods Blessing" and has exactly the effects you
describe. The [+] symbol indicates that the item has been "blessed."
This is supposed to be good, but I would be interested in hearing exactly
what effect the blessing has on different items.

>Have you hugged a Nymph lately ?<

The scroll you read, you lucky S.O.B., was a scroll of
"GODS BLESSINGS" ! This little gem of a scroll will IDENTIFY
ALL objects in your pack, and also puts a form of enchantment on
ALL items in your pack. Thus the food you eat with a (+) beside
it will last longer, scrolls and potions will work better, and
cursed items are no longer cursed when a (+) is beside them. This
scroll is the only way to cure the imfamous scroll of "DEMONS CURSE",
which is a real hoser to use at any level. What the DC scroll does
is put a (-) beside every item, which means it is cursed. Thus the
scrolls you read and potions you drink do utterly NOTHING, except
disappear when used. Also you are stuck with the armor, weapon and
rings you are wearing, but they are still as strong as they were
before the curse, just unremovable. If you read a DC scroll and
have a GB scroll in your pack, don't read anything else !!!
Your only hope of salvaging your pack full of goodies is to find
another scroll of enchant item (fat chance) and enchant your scroll
of GB, then read the scroll of GB.

I hope this clears up the issue of the "glistening" pack,
which is a scroll of GB, and the "shuddering" pack, the sure sign
of the DC scroll.
