I'm just finishing off the edges of an implementation of YP for the Explorer, with code for using YP in Explorer NFS. Before releasing it, I'd like some advise on copyrights and licensing and such. The YP code is mainly a translation of the output from Sun's "rpcgen" program, run on rpcsvc/yp.x from the "Portable ONC" RPC 4.0 distribution, which says: .... * Sun RPC is a product of Sun Microsystems, Inc. and is provided for * unrestricted use provided that this legend is included on all tape * media and as a part of the software program in whole or part. Users * may copy or modify Sun RPC without charge, but are not authorized * to license or distribute it to anyone else except as part of a product or * program developed by the user. .... Would somebody please advise me as to what this means? Can I distribute my YP port freely? Must I include "this legend" in all files that directly build on yp.x? Regarding the NFS patches to make NFS use YP, I'd also like to be advised. Can I distribute this to this list, or must people send me a message saying the have a TI license for Explorer NFS first? This also applies to a set of NFS patches/improvements that I'm planning to give away real soon.
