A small use of levitation is to avoid trap doors when you have the Amulet
and are heading back up. It is very aggravating to drop a level since you
are probably low (or getting low) on magic, and dropping a level (especially
where the monsters are REAL mean) greatly increases your chances of using up
more precious magic.
Wait 'till your in that situation... (I know... "I am! I am!"), you'll want
everything you can stuff in your pack.
