Certainly, there are a few demos around that use pre-calculated tables of sine values but most them them [even the ones that aren't interactive] are still doing the 3D calculations in real-time. Most of the vector ball routines are all pre-generated coordinates, however. I've seen numerous demos [including the Substance demo] that allow you to actually control the movement of the objects.
