For those of you that like to know interesting and unusual features of rogue, I have some for you. I have played rogue for quite a while, and have won many times. Currently I'm playing version 8.0 or some such. One feature which I just discovered is that you can win the game without having the Amulet with you. In the game I just finished, at one point I threw the Amulet at a monster (for the heck of it) (the Amulet killed the monster) and then proceeded to go up the stairs to the top, where I then left the caves and became a winner - Without carrying the Amulet! Another fun feature of this version is that if you genocide enough monsters, you will eventually kill off all the normal monsters and run into the Devil Asmodeus, who is indeed quite powerful. At that point all you run into are A's, which makes a 300th level treasure room look funny, with 30 A's packed into it. A's do around 80 points of damage when they hit you. Let's see, I have had things like a +35,+45 trident, +91 plate armor, 333 food, etc. A last idea that's interesting is to be carrying all this stuff along with hundreds of charges in a wand of annihilation, to be nearly back to the top of the dungeon, say on level 5, and then to think about all those poor little baby monsters that are going to come up and try to beat on you. I mean, they just don't know What the heck they are getting in to!! :-) Mark Bowen alias Lejan, the oft killed, many times maligned, and sometimes INVINCIBLE fighter. For anyone who has played Rogue version 7 (a super rogue), is it worthwhile to go past level 100. I did this once, but all I saw were Bats, which are no fun if you make it that far. Are Bats all that dwell that deep or are there other interesting things that deep? Also as someone stated before, it seems that the Amulet isn't needed to win. Once finding and possesing it, you can go up and down at will. Awhile back, I was playing Rogue version 3.6 (mctesq), and I won with TWO amulets. What happened was that I got the 1st amulet, and would occasionally droped it as I fought some monsters (full pack), then later I found another one. Is this a bug or feature?
