[ Why can't you find a cleric when you really need one?? ]
Talk about interesting! I found a Scare Monster scroll by the most
wonderful method I have ever seen! Although I think there was an
error in the method.
I was on level two when I entered a party room. One monster was at
the door when I entered with almost no hit points. I tried running
away, expecting lots of company. When I killed off the beast, there
were NO OTHERS AROUND!! I wandered back to the party room, and
LO and BEHOLD! SEVEN monsters were standing around this scroll which
was on the first step in the room!! Naturally, I assume it to be
scare monster and move onto it, and killed off all the monsters!
Now, please tell me...How did the one monster get through in the
first place?????

Its a wellknown bug (or at least it used to be) that monsters can be
created on top of scare scrolls. Most disconcerting when you try using
the 'does the monster run around the scroll' method of finding them.
I'd say that the first monster through was created on the scare scroll
and happily ran off of it to fight you.

The first monster in the party room that had a scare monster scroll by the doorway *was born on top of it*. In my opinion this is a bug, but monsters that wouldn't dare step on a sca-mo will happily carry them around if they are created with them, and keep standing on them if they are created there.
