I have just completed coding and initial testing of a utility to load DEC's DECserver product line from RSTS/E systems. It runs detached and processes server download and dump requests, generating DECnet logging messages on the system console and to a private logfile. It is written in Basic Plus-2 with some Macro-11 subroutines and should run under RSTS V9.4 or higher. DECnet/E is not required, although loading servers with- out DECnet (for LAT) isn't particularly useful. I have tested it on various CPU's and interfaces, with the DECserver 200 and 250 products. It should work for DS100's and 300's as well. I'm not sure about the 500/550 (I have 2 550's on order, so I'll know soon). It should also load the DECrouter boxes and similar beasts, although they are less likely to be found in all-RSTS shops. You need to get the appropriate load image(s) off a RSX, Ultrix, or VMS server kit and onto the RSTS system. The software can be configured to either respond right away (and beat VAX systems to the punch) or with a programmable delay (so it can be used as a fallback in case the VAX is down). I am going to place the software in the DECUS Library, on the RSTS SIG BBS system, and on the next SIG tape. However, I need to do some more testing. If you are interested in testing it, have the BP2 compiler and necessary hardware, and have net access, I'd be glad to make you a test site and send the software out. All I'd like back is a short mail message with your experiences and any bug reports. If you are interested, send me a mail message to the address in the .sig and I'll contact you by return mail with more information. Also, since this group isn't exactly overflowing with traffic, I could post the final (post-field-test) version here if enough people want it.
