Dearest Netlanders, I'm posting this after a debate I had with my mother. We were discussing women and there mathematical abilities, PLEASE NO FLAMES !!! . I was just wondering if in history have there been any world caliber women mathematicians. Kind of like Madam Curie was to Phisics and Chemestry only in the field of mathematics. #include "stdisclaimer.h" PS: Once again no flames I am not a chauvinist or a sexist I just simply would like to know the answer to this nagging question.

... and Julia Robinson in more recent years (the 60s, or perhaps she's still alive). Sadly, no. Robinson died of leukemia a little more than a year ago. -- John Merrill | ARPA: merrill@bucasb.bu.edu Center for Adaptive Systems | 111 Cummington Street | Boston, Mass. 02215 | Phone: (617) 353-5765
