[net.games.rogue] Leppys and Super-Leppys

carlton@genrad.UUCP (Carl Hommel) (08/20/84)

Leprechauns and Super-leprechauns are the same beastie. How much gold
they leave behind (or steal) is determined in the following manner:

When they die, a saving throw is made vs magic. This is the same saving
throw that determines whether you are Umber-confused, Dragon-flamed,
bounced-bolt burned, arrow-attacked, or dart-weakened. You need

	[ 17 + 3 - (level/2) ] or less on a 1d20 roll. (Straight AD&D here.)

If you blow it, (which is usual for low-level rogues), the Leppy steals
five times the amount of gold you would get in a typical room for that level.
On the other hand, if you make your saving throw after killing him,
you receive 5 times as much gold as normal.

Note that the above is based on my detailed knowledge of the 3.7 version.
For example, the 3 in the above equation is probably different for each
kind of attack. All you 5.3 people might find things different....
