[net.games.rogue] Notes on Violet Fungii

[ Always Genocide Umber Hulks, they keep line eaters away ]

I was just answering a bug report on Rogue version JWD 0.12.6
(so called because I don't plan to go to version 1.0 until there
are NO known bugs) and I thought that it might be worth sharing with the net.

Guess what?! I don't consider either of those to be
bugs, and I knew that both things occurred before you
mentioned then. When a Violet Fungus attacks you, you
are trapped within it (but still able to be hit by other
monsters) and each round it does as many points damage
as the number of times that it has succeeded in hitting
you since you became trapped. (e.g., tentacles that
ooze corrosive, poisonous, nasty slime). Thus one SHOULD
take damage as long as you are held, at least one point
per round, possibly more.

As for throwing the Eau d'Hero at a wall not distracting
them:
    1)	I must admit that I hadn't clearly decided to implement
	it that way.
    2)	However, consider it from the point of view of the
Violet Fungus -- Here you are, a sessile
organism, there is food in your mouth. In fact,
you are chewing on it. Yum, Yum, it tastes good!
All of the sudden, there is this fantastic smell
. . . Oh no, it is over there and you can't move.
Boo Hoo!!! But wait, why not eat this clearly
inferior human that is IN MY MOUTH. Sounds great.
Well, if not great, at least he'll do.

Shall I add this discussion to the list of "Not bugs"?
Or, do you want to continue the discussion.
