[net.games.rogue] saved game and invetory bug in rogue 5.3

Recently I have been experiencing the ole saved game
bug in conjunction with an inventory bug.  A friend
of mine fights nymphs by going to a different room,
dropping everything thats not in use, and then battling
it out with the nymph.  Well, several times after victory,
when trying to pick things back up, everything I DIDN'T
drop dissappears from the inventory, but the letters are
not used for items I do pick up.  Then the inventory will
have blank lines in it and often will look like this:

   (d) ring mail


   (f) an arrow
   (q) A scroll called 'enco blah hlaby'

   (a) some food

and then everything will suddenly be one item and the inventory
will look something like:


   () A scroll called 'enco blah hlaby'

   () A scroll called 'enco blah hlaby'
   (  A scroll called 'enco blah hlaby'

   () A scroll called 'enco blah hlaby'
   () A scroll called 'enco blah hlaby'

No letters or anything, and then if I try to use something
I'm supposed to have, I end up going through the alphabet
only to find that I have nothing!!!.  Any ideas about what's
going on??? A fix???  By the way, in every instance of the
saved game bug, I would eventually see an error message:

	infinite tc= loop

from rogue.  What does this mean? Anyway, of course all this
nonsense happens during a good game.  The saved game bug does
seem to disappear if you go down a level (if you can make it
to the stairs) but it doesn't help this inventory problem at
all.

A lot of gobbledygook but if there are any explanations, I'd
sure like to hear them.
