Most of it seems fairly straightforward, but I am having
trouble with the
reception operations. Why is there a separate Receive Report operation, when
a Receive RN and Receive NRN operations are already provided? Are not RNs
and NRNs the predominant types of Reports? Or am I missing a fundamental
aspect of the nature of Reports in the Abstract MHS Model?

Yes you are missing a fundamental aspect. Report is different to RN and NRN.
Report is what formely was called delivery notification.
