[comp.protocols.iso.x400] X.400 Domains

n2dsy@cbnewsh.att.COM (j.gordon.beattie) (08/12/89)

Can someone give me their best answer to these questions? I brought
this subject up awhile back and the answers were all over the
place but nothing was concrete (especially the second question).

Does any entity under the CCITT, ISO or JOINT CCITT-ISO
object identifier tree have the right to set up a domain?
For example: CCITT Network Operator, ISO Identified Organizations, etc.

Does anyone have a handle on how the X.400 and Internet domains
will be mapped?

Thanks,
J. Gordon Beattie, Jr.

This question is precisely within the scope of the OR subgroup
of the OSI working group of the IETF. If you want more information
I can point you at the appropriate contact point. In any case,
you will see some definitive statements answering this question
in a hopefully "soon" timeframe. We are currently in the process
of defining the scope of the question.

There is a draft RFC from R. Ullmann, Prime. His address is

Robert.Ullmann@en-c06.x400.prime.com

That RFC should also be discussed in RARE WG3!
