Encore Computer Corp. has EnComm MHS (X.400) for their Multimax, Encore 91
and Encore 93 systems running the UMAX V o/s (a highly parallellized version
of System V Release 3.2 with numerous add-ons, like X11R4, OSF/Motif 1.1,
parallellized TCP/IP with Van Jacobsen's extensions, parallellized ONC etc).

It runs over both CONS and CLNS (TP0 and/or TP2 in the CONS case, and TP4 in
the CLNS case) and interoperates with SMTP over TCP/IP. In fact, Encore says
that one would probably like to use ones favourite UNIX mail UA.

Subject: X.400 products on Sun Platform

Ian,

I am the product manager for X.400 at Sun Microsystems. We indeed have
been supporting an X.400 gateway that allows Sun mail users access to 1984
mode X.400 networks world wide since 1988. We are heavily focused on
GOSIP support and will be bringing out products focused on US and
international GOSIP profiles in the very near future. We are also
committed to 1988 mode X.400 product support.

I would be glad to talk with you more about what Sun is doing in the area
of X.400. Please give me a call or EMail your address so I can send you
information brochures and data sheets describing the products.

Regards,
Sally Balakrishnan

Ian,

Have your local HP sales rep. talk to you about OpenMail.

Briefly, it's a *native* (i.e. not gatewayed) X.400 mailing system,
that runs on a variety of Un*x platforms. Gateways to Sendmail, high
performance, etc. etc...

Oh, and it can use SMTP as a transport, too.

Regards,

richi.

Wollongong is just coming to market with WIN/MHS, our X.400 mail system.
It's powerful, flexible, and able to handle a huge number of messages.
It can run over TCP, TP4, or X25. It has a well-documented API. It
runs on SVR3 on i386 boxes.

For the real pitch, contact our Product Marketing Manager, Doug Abmort
at +1 415-962-7100.
