It runs over both CONS and CLNS (TP0 and/or TP2 in the CONS case, and TP4 in the CLNS case) and interoperates with SMTP over TCP/IP. We indeed have been supporting an X.400 gateway that allows Sun mail users access to 1984 mode X.400 networks world wide since 1988. We are heavily focused on GOSIP support and will be bringing out products focused on US and international GOSIP profiles in the very near future. Briefly, it's a *native* (i.e. not gatewayed) X.400 mailing system, that runs on a variety of Un*x platforms. Gateways to Sendmail, high performance, etc. etc... Oh, and it can use SMTP as a transport, too.
