[comp.protocols.iso.x400] Electronic Mail Integration

FOX@PEOCU1.NAVY.MIL ("CHARLES F. FOX, SAIC") (04/15/91)

Greetings all,

Recently, we procured and installed two VAX 6210's running VMS and a
cisco Gateway Server. We also, in the past, installed a Local Area
Network. This LAN provides an environment for office
automation, MIS and ADP functions.

A well used application in both environments is electronic mail. The
PC based LAN is running Novell's Netware (386) and is integrated with
the VAX LAN via Novell's Netware for VMS. The PC LAN has cc:Mail for
local and some remote communication. The VAX LAN uses both VMSmail
(via a third party front-end called Gold-Mail) and SMTP mail (via
TCP/IP from Process Software Corp.)

Presently there is no integration between the PC based LAN and the
VAXes. We have purchased Message Router, VMSmail Gateway, Message
Router X.400 Gateway and VAX OSI Transport Services.

We are looking for a clean, semi-seamless integration of these two
mail environments. I am aware of a few third party layered
applications that may provide this.

Any help or leads you can provide will be appreciated. Also, if there is
another forum that could respond to this query, please forward the addres to
me.

Thanks in advance...

Charles F. Fox Systems Manager
