[gnu.emacs.bug] EMACS installation on a VAX under VMS

Hello:

We are trying to install EMACS (18.51) on a VAX (VMS 4.7) - actually
some one else is, and I am on this mailing system and so attempting to interfa
inteface.

Here are some of the problems that we have encountered:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1)	The only way we have been able to use a VT200 terminal to work is
to change the COMMUNICATIONS SET-UP menu option to NO_XOFF. Is there
	any other solution ?

2)	If a ^G is pressed anytime while in EMACS, the cursor keys stop working.
Each time one of these keys is pressed, the escape sequence corresponding
to that key is inserted into the buffer. Then after a while, the cursor
keys start working all of a sudden !!!

3)	Start up problem. When the EMACS command is typed in (with or without
a file name), EMACS issues the message "End of file during parsing".
If a file name is specified on the command line this does not get
loaded. Once Emacs starts, however, ^X^F can be used to load a file.

4)	I see a lot of people are using v18.52. How do I go about updating
what we have to 18.52 ?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Would appreciate any help in this regard.

			Thanks
