I'm running emacs 18.52.2 under SunOS 3.5, displaying to an IBM RT running Mach, X11R2. I'm running a click-to-type window manager (rtl) on the RT. When I move the mouse out of the emacs window, the emacs text cursor becomes an empty rectangle, and when I move the mouse into the emacs window, the text cursor becomes a filled rectangle. In other words, emacs text cursor highlighting follows the mouse position. This is annoying, because the text cursor highlighting should indicate whether or not keyboard input will be directed to emacs, which is a useful piece of information. (My window manager also provides this feedback by highlighting the border of the current focus window.) Indicating whether the mouse cursor is in the emacs window, when the mouse cursor's position has nothing to do with input focus, is useless.
