[gnu.emacs.bug] dired can't delete file with space char in name

18.51.99 on CCI Power 6/32 (tahoe) running 4.2 BSD

Create a file whose name contains a space char, e.g. "foo bar". Run
dired on the directory containing the file, tag it for deletion (press
'd'), press 'x' to delete tagged files. Dired displays buffer
containing the files to be deleted (*Deletions*) and asks for
yess/no confirmation. The "foo bar" file is displayed as "foo".
Confirm deletion and you get error message: Deletions failed: ("foo").
