[gnu.emacs.bug] Mike William's complaints re 18.52 on AIX 2.2.1

Alpern@IBM.COM (David Alpern) (02/07/89)

This is in response to a msg floating around usenet from Mike Williams,
mike@erix.ericsson.se, regarding EMACS 18.52 on AIX 2.2.1, which should
eventually reach this list. [I'd appreciate it if someone familiar
with the current usenet/uucp world would drop me a note with a useful
address, given the above and path: uunet!mcvax!enea!ericom!erix!mike.]

window.c not compiling under -O isn't new: I guess the comment on this
just didn't make the MACHINES file. Just recompile that one file
without -O and all should be well.

The IGNBRK fix is right, and is in the AIX-18.52-update file on prep.

On AIX 2.2.1, the following switches are no longer needed:
-I/usr/include/bsd, -lsock, and -lbsd.

AIX 2.2.1 has X11 rather than X10, and you should remove HAVE_X_MENU and
define X11. x11term.c needs #include <sys/time.h>.

Your other complaints don't fit our experience. Suggestion 1: DON'T
define BSD_INCLUDES, that is/was used for cross-compiling! My guess
is that this is what is breaking select() and dumping.

Mike: feel free to drop me a note directly if problems persist.

- Dave
