[gnu.emacs.bug] expand-file-name

lord+@ANDREW.CMU.EDU (Tom Lord) (03/15/89)

In 18.52, expand-file-name does not handle trailing /'s properly.

(not (string= (expand-file-name "/usr") (expand-file-name "/usr/")))

What would be "proper", adding or stripping the last "/"? In some
places (say, find-file) the trailing slash makes a difference. I am
not sure this is a bug at all!
