[net.games.rogue] "wielding" wands/staffs

wall@ucbvax.ARPA (Steve Wall) (10/20/84)

I was reading an article in net.games.rouge and noticed that someone
said that wands/staffs are more powerful if they are "wielded". I've
*never* wielded a wand/staff before using it; is it true that they are
more powerful if they are wielded? Now that I think of it, it would
make sense that they would be more powerful, but is this really true?

Thanks,

Weilding wands/staffs may or may not be powerful.
If you wield a stick first, there will not be a change
in MOST versions, but I beleive it works in 3.7 and 5.2.

Sticks in fact, will work as weapons in 3.7, 5.2, SuperRogue's,
most advanced rogues, as a random weapon. It works! Here's
how to prove it: Throw it at a monster. The game
will reply: 'Your _weapon_ missed the _monster_.'
