GNU Emacs 18.52.6 of Tue Sep 6 1988 on wind (berkeley-unix): Any reason that I'd have trouble running 18.53 from a shell script? The following shell script: #!/bin/sh /usr/public/bin/gnumacs $* simply locks up when gnumacs is linked to an 18.53 executable. It works fine for our 18.52. Help? -Michael

You need to read <38539@bbn.COM> (in the newsgroups comp.emacs,
gnu.emacs, and gnu.emacs.bug) and apply the patch therein to your
emacs.c. You can get that article from
tut.cis.ohio-state.edu:pub/gnu/emacs/18.53-fixes.Z or from
osu-cis:/u/public/emacs/18.53-fixes.Z.
