This message relates to super-rogue 9.0. I assume that the analysis provided is the same for other versions of that wonderful game. The assumption that enchanting a weapon increases the number of die and number of sides on each die is incorrect. For example, the long sword is a "1d10" weapon. The average damage is (1 + 10) / 2 = 5.5. A +2,+0 long sword would hit more often, but not make any difference in damage. The hit depends on your level, the monsters level & dexterity [dexterity only in super-rogue], any rings affecting hits, any appropriate hero's status (ie, a stronger player can hit better), and, of course, the first number in the weapon's status. If one had a +0,+2 long sword, the +2 damage is added AFTER the hit is calculated. For example, the average damage is increased to 7.5, which is 5.5 + 2. I hope this clarifies things.
