[gnu.emacs.bug] manual-entry needs hook

umerin@photon.stars.flab.fujitsu.junet (Masanobu UMEDA) (06/22/89)

In GNU Emacs 18.54.1 of Sat May 13 1989 on photon (berkeley-unix)

It is a good idea to add a hook call in the manual-entry command.

I sometimes run view-mode on *Manual Entry* buffer to browse through
the manuals easily. I'd like to run the view-mode automatically when
the manual-entry command is invoked. How about adding a hook to the
command?

I use Dave Gudeman's view-mode for the *Manual* buffer (the one
patterned after "less"). This is a minor mode and stays active
after it is switched on the first time. (Don't ask me why, it just
works.) Just another point for replacing the standard view-mode
in the distribution with Dave's.

The reason it stays active after it is switched on the first time is
that the *Maunal Entry* buffer is never killed, just erased and written
over.
