[gnu.emacs.bug] emacs 18.54 with X11 menus turned on

lrr@Princeton.EDU (Lawrence R. Rogers) (07/07/89)

The X menus stuff from 18.53 worked nicely and some users at Princeton want them to continue. However, when I build 18.54 for X11 Release 3 and then use the menus stuff (c-s-middle), emacs calls Fx_popup_menu which in turn calls XQueryPointer thusly (file is xmenu.c):

  139     XQueryPointer (XXdisplay, root_window, &wjunk, &wjunk, &XMenu_xpos,
  140                    &XMenu_ypos, &ijunk, &ijunk, &ijunk);

and XQueryPointer never returns, hanging in a Xread which in turns calls read. Am I doing the right thing for menus (and if not, how does one do this now) and why isn't it working correctly? Please mail me as I don't always follow this newsgroup
