[gnu.emacs.bug] gnu-emacs core dumps, fatal error

chan@chansw.UUCP (Jerry H. Chan) (08/04/89)

I am running 18.52 of gnu-emacs, and it seems to core dump when doing
memory-intensive operations (i.e., reverse searches for a string in a
large ascii file) -- the exact error is

"Fatal error (11) -- Memory fault, core dumped"

I am running on Interactive 386/ix R2.0.2, although this error also
occurred for me on 386/ix 1.0.6. The problem might be the way I ported
gnu-emacs for 386/ix... Anyone out there running a port for 386/ix
that works? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
