[gnu.emacs.bug] multiple RMAIL Summary bug

steve@quonset.cfht.hawaii.edu (Steven Smith) (08/12/89)

GNU emacs 18.54.2 of Thu May 4 1989 on quonset (hpux)
X10 if it matters.

1) start emacs
2) ^X2 - split-window-vertically
3) ^X2 - split-window-vertically
4) ^Xo - other-window
5) ^Xo - other-window
6) ^X2 - split-window-vertically ; resulting in 4 ~= windows
7) M-xrmail - rmail
8) h - rmail summary
9) ^Xo
10) ^Xo - to get to RMAIL window
11) iareaspec.box - to get to another mailbox
12) h - summary on that one also
13) ^Xb in various blank windows until all 4 buffers are displayed
14) ^Xo - to get to summary window
15) p - move to previous message, worked fine
16) SPC - to see second page of message

the SPC scrolled the other summary window, not the rmail window
that the 'p' had changed.

I tried this several times, it was consistant in that 'n' and 'p'
seemed to work fine, but the window scrolled by the SPC varied.
The manual (section 26.8.2 - Editing in Summaries) says something
about "...(presumably Rmail)..." when describing SPC.

Since it is documented correctly, maybe it is feature. Is there a valid
reason for this to occur? Since 'n' and 'p' know which window to go to,
is it not reasonable to have SPC (and DEL) do the same?

Anyone else run across this behavior and/or fix(IMHO) it?
