I just started playing Advanced Rogue 2.0, which is like a muchly enhanced rogue 5.2. It has 4 types of characters (fighters, clerics, etc) lots of new monsters (blink dogs, etc) and many neat new features like shimmering pools, trading posts, and maze rooms. So, I have some questions: 1) What is a staff of charging? 2) I got diseased by a mummy and died. I was pretty tough before then, my character was level 11 with 130 hit points. My hit points gradually drained away. What can I do about it? 3) What is the potion that makes a blue aura about your head? 4) Can you ever buy food from a quartermaster? 5) How do variables like intelligence and wisdom enter into the game? 6) I read a scroll (raise ability I think) and then some items became identified which was unknown before that. What happened? -- The girls just want to chfn but the boys just want to fsck. Phil Ngai (408) 749-5588 UUCP: {ucbvax,decwrl,ihnp4,allegra,intelca}!amd!amdcad!phil ARPA: amd!amdcad!phil@decwrl.ARPA

1) A staff of charging charges a wand. 2) Use the 'K. ointments' and will heal you and the disease or Use a scroll of cure disease 3) Blue aura ... Clear thought (for use with illusions from phantoms, etc.) 4) As far as I know, no. You can only steal it from him (thief has best chance) 5) Intelligence: more spells (mag.), harder to be illusioned (by phantoms etc.) Wisdom: more prayers(cleric) 6) It's called identify all.

What happened? I am playing advanced rogue 3.3 but these sound like the same items. 1) A staff of charging, if used, will allow you to charge any other staff you might have. 2) You got a parasitic infestation. You need a scroll of cure disease or a ring of sustain health. Otherwise you will lose hit points every time you move until you die. 3) A blue aura around your head is a potion of clear thought. 4) You can only buy from a quartermaster what he has to offer. That may be food, it may not. 5) Intelligence is that property that allows one to cast spells. Likewise, wisdom will allow one to pray. You need at least 16 in either category to do this. 6) You read a <blessed> scroll of identify. These scrolls will identify everything in your pack at the time. A potion of raise level will tell you that your level has been raised. Hope this helps Snertt the rogue !aluxz!asw

What happened? 1) A staff of charging allows you to recharge any other staff. Zapping once costs one charge frlom the charger and puts one into whichever one you want. 2) Read a cure disease scroll, pray for a cure disease spell, or wear a ring of sustain health. 3) Clear thought (no more confusion, fright, etc.) 4) Not that I've seen... 5) Definitely try out being a mage or cleric. As a cleric, you can pray (p), and as a mage, you can cast spells (C). Higher intelligence means more spells at a given level, and higher wisdom means more prayers at a given level. 6) You probably read a blessed scroll of Identify. If it said: "You feel more Knowledgable" then that's what it was... Steven "Pseudonym" Grady
