We have a new version, Advanced Rogue 5.5 I think, and I've been having a couple of problems. The first is that twice I've had good games going and all of a sudden the game dies and I get a tombstone that says "died of a bug". In both games my hit points were at their max (over 100 in each). In the first game, I had just found a potion of magic detection, so I droped a couple of unidentified objects, moved a couple of spaces away then quaffed the potion of magic detection and died. My first thought was that it was a cursed potion, but that seemed a rather severe punishment. In the second game, I had just finished clearing out a level 23 treasure room of about 30 monsters. I used my alchemy jug that had magic detection liquid in it to determine which objects were cursed, then was checking out every thing when about 50 turns after using the magic detection, I died of a bug again. As I said earlier, I know that in each case my hit points were at their max, and I was not infested. The potion of magic detection is common to both games, but in the one I died right away, and in the other a short while later. I guess I'm wondering if anyone knows whether this is a software bug or some other bug I may have missed. If it is a software bug, how do I avoid whatever sequence caused it. I don't know if Advanced Rogue 5.5 is a hacked up version or not, but if there is someone that is familiar with the source I would appreciate your advice. The second problem I've been having is with the score file. As I mentioned, we just changed over to the new version, and everything was working fine with the the score file (the top 20 scores were displayed) until I tried a "rogue -s" just to look at the scores. Since then I haven't seen the score file. When I get killed, the objects in my pack are identified, then my tombstone is displayed (or in the other order) then I get my prompt again. Any ideas how I can fix this problem? Any help would be appreciated. hound!5123jsm

To the second ... Recreate the score file. exp.: >/usr/games/lib/rogue_score Note: score file is always writable, sometimes it's called rogue_roll, sometimes it's in /usr/games. In case both exist, use them both.
