The shell mode does not display prompts or outputs of commands unless the shell is killed using "kill" from another shell. A shell is actually started and the commands typed in are actually echoed and executed -- only the output is missing. I am running 18.55 on Bell Tech UNIX (S5R3.2). My config.h follows.
