I am trying to get GNU Emacs 18.55 up on running on a system for which no config files exist and am having what is admittedly a minor but annoying problem. When I start up Emacs in it's own X Window I get the following error: Wrong type argument: integer-or-marker-p, nil This does not happen if I start GNU Emacs up inside of an already existing xterm session, or from a terminal. This is a system for which CANNOT_DUMP is defined, so I can watch what is being loaded from loadup.el. The above message occurs after I see the message telling me that the documentation pointers have been successfully found. I do not have a site-init.el, so, as far as I can tell, the message occurs when the startup code is run via loadup.el using (eval top-level). I haven't noticed any "problem" that this message should be pointing out to me. The only minor annoyance is that the startup message is not printed out. I am concerned about loosing GNU Emacs on new users without the startup message being displayed. I have found that if I set term_file_prefix to nil in my .emacs, I don't get this error. One option would be for me to put this in our default.el. Can anyone tell me why this is happening? -- Mike Lijewski (H)607/277-7623 (W)607/255-0539 (desk)607/255-2960 Cornell National Supercomputer Facility ARPA: mjlx@cornellf.tn.cornell.edu BITNET: mjlx@cornellf.bitnet SMAIL: 1122 Ellis Hollow Rd.
