[gnu.emacs.bug] Horz Window Split.

ajb@kerri.oz.au (Anthony Berglas) (02/22/90)

I am running Emacs 18-50 via rlogin in non X mode from a DECstation 3100
(mips cpu) X Term window.

I normally create a wide (140 cols) X window, and fire up
emacs in it and then split the emacs window Horizontally.
(in half). Truncate-partial-width-window has been setq Nil.
(ie have \ wrap).

The cursor *often* looses its horizontal position on the Rightmost
emacs window, often going to the RHS even though the point is not there.
^L fixes things.

Wish List:-

1) provide a method of specifying that the cursor jumps n% towords the
center when Emacs decides to automatically recenter after the cursor
has been pushed too far off the screen. n is currently 100.
Currently I only get about half a screen of usefull data.

2) related to 1. scrolling regions would be nice so that pushing the
cursor Near the edges (top and bottom) causes scrolling.

3) Mouse driven scrolling in X mode must be a long outstanding request.

Good luck with Gnu!

Anthony.
