Looking at the size of RMAIL I can't blame people for posting changes to saveconf.el to avoid messing with it. But I hope that whoever is still supporting RMAIL will fix this bug before version 19 of Emacs is released. RMAIL should not lose its mind just because a user happens to be already visiting ~/RMAIL when RMAIL is invoked.
