When compiling GNU emacs with Sun's std. `cc' on a SPARC running 4.0 (or 4.1 for that matter), is it safe to specify standard optimization, namely -O, for the compilation? Someone here states having seen on the net, that if optimization is performed then only -O1 should be done and that -O, which implies -O2 on a SPARC, is dangerous for GNU Emacs. Can someone in the know reply? If others might be interested I could summarize to the followup ng (gnu.emacs). Thanks! -- Ralph P.
