| I was able to compile emacs only by using pcc (or cc -pcc). I hope
| this helps!

| Same here. We have never been able to compiler whatever version of emacs with
| whatever version of fxc. Gcc might help, too.

I spent some time Monday trying to get GNU Emacs 18.57 compiled using GCC under
Concentrix 5.5.03, and was in fact able to get it to compile, but it crashes
with a "hangup" message after I try to move around using control keys, hit
return, etc. Control keys appear on screen in caret notation (^N, etc.) rather
than being received and used for movement. It does load and display text
correctly, and no error messages were issued during compilation aside from
a few warnings about implicitly extern variables being used in static fashion.

Anyone have any helpful hints as to where in the code to look to investigate
such behavior? BTW, I subsequently obtained and compiled Epoch, and it
seems to work fine. There is one nagging thing about it, but it seems
to be (probably) unrelated to the problem with 18.57.

Thanks for any clues.
