	PROGRAMMERS - LONGMAN DICTIONARIES DIVISION

We need a number of short term programmers to assist completion of our
new lexicographic workstation system. This is an ambitious system which
provides a lexicographic-friendly interface to a large text corpus and 
dictionary compilation system.

The system is being designed in a VAX environment by our Text Processing
Manager, Ken Moore, and Brian Chandler (ex-ICL and UMIST), at our office
in Harlow, Essex.

Applicants will need to have proven programming ability in a high-level 
language, preferably in the AI or natural language processing field.
A degree in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, or similar
subject is preferable.

Specific knowledge of the following would be useful, though not essential:
C, VAX-BASIC, DEC WINDOWS (X WINDOWS), VMS

Above all, imagination and linguistic sensitivity are essential.

Salary Range: 11,705 - 14,349 pounds sterling p.a.
