[net.games.rogue] A good reason for letting a wraith hit you.

fritzz@sdcc3.UUCP (Flippin' fritzz) (12/13/84)

In super-rogue (we run version 2.0) there is one occasion when it actually
may be useful to get 1 level drained. If you are running as a magic user
or a cleric, and you have run out of spells, going down a level and then
coming back after killing the wraith will give you a whole new supply.
Of course you have dropped behind in hit points, but this tends to be
easy to make up with all those big nasties running around and a full
load of spells. I can't always recommend this, in fact I usually try to
avoid it myself. I just wanted to mention that it could be useful.

I have also fought wraiths after just advancing to a new level and the
number of hit points I was awarded was very low (1-2). This way I can
're-advance' to that level and possibly get more hit points.

One of the problems with this is that the wraith can hit you enough times
to knock you down 2 levels.
