In super-rogue (we run version 2.0) there is one occasion when it actually may be useful to get 1 level drained. If you are running as a magic user or a cleric, and you have run out of spells, going down a level and then coming back after killing the wraith will give you a whole new supply. Of course you have dropped behind in hit points, but this tends to be easy to make up with all those big nasties running around and a full load of spells. I can't always recommend this, in fact I usually try to avoid it myself. I just wanted to mention that it could be useful. blechen misfien habroken. -- ihnp4--\ fritzz the Zebra decvax--\ akgua----\ Take this brother, may it serve you well. dcdwest---\ kgbvax-----\ ucbvax-------- sdcsvax -- sdcc3 -- fritzz

I have also fought wraiths after just advancing to a new level and the number of hit points I was awarded was very low (1-2). This way I can 're-advance' to that level and possibly get more hit points. One of the problems with this is that the wraith can hit you enough times to knock you down 2 levels. -- Carol Preston {sri-unix, amd, hpda, harpo, ihnp4, allegra}!fortune!preston (415) 594-2891 Fortune Systems, 101 Twin Dolphin Pkwy, Redwood Shores, CA 94065
