[net.games.rogue] Help with demi-gods, lesser-gods, greater-gods, etc.

rakon@aluxz.UUCP (kohler) (01/05/85)

Has anyone figured out what the various gods do ?

For example, one named Skolcus Skulbones phases after you and fires
nasty magic misiles and calls storm giants.
And there was a greater god whom I zapped with
a disintegrater at least 15 times and hacked on with a good weapon
and he still didn't go down.

Anyone know any other gods ? Or how to find out what they do ?

                      RAKON THE INQUISITIVE

a wand of distintegration seldom kills any of the greater gods because
they have a better save throw for magical attacks. these are the ones
that a wand of disintegration can affect: demon prince (Jubilex), arch
devil (Geryon), arch devil (Dispater), demon prince (Yeenoghu), lesser
god (Hruggek), lesser god (Kurtulmak), demigod (Vaprak "The Destroyer"),
chromatic dragon (Tiamat), demon prince (Orcus).

it is not possible to affect any of these by a wand of disintegration:
platinum dragon (Bahamut), arch devil (Baalzebul), arch devil
(Asmodeus), demon prince (Demogorgon), greater god (Maglubiyet),
greater god (Gruumsh), lesser god (Skoraeus Stonebones).

i might have one or two in the wrong categories. these are all the
unique monsters. if you can pursuade the person who installed your
version of srogue to tell you the wizard's password, then you can
experiment in relative safety and find out what they do. many
regenerate fast enough that you need something like a +5,+5 two-handed
sword to even have a slight chance of killing them.
