Well, it seems my earlier comment that the bug seems to be fixed was in error. I have run another test and the emacs process does hang around (the window vanishes, but that is the server/window manager responding to the socket closure). So, it would appear that some form of check is still needed. However, I would not make the check happen as often as it does (it can actaully happen every .02 seconds, it averages about .1 seconds). This kind of load on the network is fairly serious. I would think that performing this check every 30 seconds to a minute would be a lot more reasonable. Larry Streepy Convex Computer Corporation
