Maybe I will get an inspiration but right now I don't have a clue. I tried to remake emacs with gcc instead of the Sun compiler. Simple enough. The file sunfns.c barfed on some of the include files. I tried compiling that file with cc and then continued the make. The version produced would not accept commands (like C-a inserted ^A in the buffer, function keys were ignored). Then gratuitous kludging of sunfns got it to compile under gcc but with the same results. There must be something really simple I am missing. Can anyone help? More info: Sun3's, version 3?? OS, version 18.51 Emacs. Thanks... I've had to trouble with 1.34 on 18.53 over 3.5.1 or 4.0. But then
I'm compiling for X only :-).
