[gnu.emacs] Help with Sun Os Version 4

vail@tegra.UUCP (Johnathan Vail) (06/02/89)

HELP! I have a problem, a related question and an unrelated question:

I am trying to recompile 18.51 under version 4 Sun Os and have not
been able to succeed. The basic problem is that everything seems to
build ok, and temacs is created. It bombs with a segment or memory
violation. I have tried using both gcc and the regular Sun cc and
tried tracing using both dbx and gdb. Both debuggers are confused by
the temacs file, compiled with and without the -g switch.

I must be missing somthing obvious?

Related question, would it be worth upgrading to the latest emacs
instead of mucking with this? The latest is 18.53?

**Unrelated Question**

Recently there was discussion of the babyl format for mail files.
Could someone please send me the relevent info on the format?

Thanks much....
