[gnu.emacs] better read buffer?

Has anyone written a replacement for read-buffer, so if one hit M-p or
M-n at the prompt, the default choice steps though all elements of
(buffer-list)?  And, better yet, figured out how to install it to be
used for any "b" or "B" interactive prompt?
