[gnu.emacs] GNU emacs 18.53 on Masscomp, Next

rick@cortex.neuro.bcm.tmc.edu (Rick Gray) (06/25/89)

Two items:

1) I've just finished installing GNUemacs 18.53 on our group of
   Masscomps (RTU 4.0; 5700,5400s & 5520s) with absolutely no problems;
just use the ucb universe and make it with the provided m-masscomp.h
& s-rtu.h after setting up the local paths. I just remembered 1
extra thing I had to do; compile everything BUT loadst in the ucb
universe. When compiled in ucb loadst always says you have new
mail; it works fine when compiled in the att universe.

2) Now, we've also got a single Next on our network and I'd like to
bring up 18.53 on it (0.9 comes with pre-compiled 18.52) so we have
the same version running on everything. Also a lot of us here have
vt100-style terminals and like to use edt-emulation; the goldkey
code is broken in 18.52 but works fine in 18.53. (Of course, this
applies only when rlogin'g in to the Next; the keypad is dumb on the
   Next console).

Does anyone have m-next.h and s-mach.h for this version on a 0.9 Next?
If need be we can write them ourselves, but I'd rather not have to
spend the extra time to figure out the special stuff needed for the
Next, especially since Next already knows it.

Thanks,
rick
