I am new to emacs, but I am sold. I use it with several different terminals and it works well with all but one. At home, I dial into the university using a PC compatible and a 2400 baud modem. I connect to a LAN which is then connected to a 9600 baud modem connected to a Pyramid computer. The problem is this. Somewhere on the system, one of the components is generating C-q's and C-s's. I have disabled the xon/xoff handshake option in my telecomm package (procomm) and for the LAN. I use the stty command to turn of the tandem mode and undefine the stop and start characters for the modem connected to the pyramid. The C-s's are no longer suspending the system. In other words, when I press C-s intentionally it works properly, but occasionally, I am put into the incremental search mode spontaneously. This happens very infrequently now but it happens almost every time that I try to get help for the help option. i.e. C-h C-h C-h. I am emulating a VT100 and it works well for everything else. I have even tried modifying the termcap entry, but to no avail. I could always use jove when I call up from home. Jove works properly. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a nice solution? Has this question been asked a million times on this newsgroup? Thanks, in advance. ________________________________________________ <>___, / / | ... and he called out and said, "Gabriel, give | /___/ __ / _ __ ' _ / | this man an understanding of the vision." | /\__/\(_/\/__)\/ (_/_(/_/|_ |_______________________________________Dan_8:16_|
