Has anyone been successful compiling GNU emacs with shared libraries on a 3B2, or in using optimization? Our system is a 3B2/600 running UNIX SVR3.1.1 and CPLU 4.2, and Emacs compiles ok (as far as I can tell, with very little testing) but if I try to change the standard library in m-att3b.h to -lc_s from -lc, the make bombs out trying to run ./temacs. Am I just being a nimrod trying to change it here, or is it a hopeless cause trying to use shared libes? Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I'm still a novice porting stuff. Also, I was curious if anyone had successfully used -O on emacs. Final Question (I hope) is who is working on the GCC for the 3B2? In the recent GNU newsletter it was mentioned that a port was in the works for this machine, and we would definitely like a more ANSI compatible compiler, along with the G++. I'd be interested in helping out, in whatever capacity I could, considering my limited experience.
