tkevans@fallst.UUCP (Tim Evans) (07/24/89)
I've just done a GNU Emacs installation on a VAX 11/750 running BSD 4.2
and need a bit of help--or a pointer to the right part of TFM. (I
installed 18.54, right off the tape I made at USENIX.)
Our system is a network of 500 '286 and '386 AT clones running one version
or another of *NIX; our VAXen do network routing, handle mail, etc. Users
'rlogin' to other workstations and/or the VAXen via Ethernet running a
software package called Fusion(tm) from Network Research--protocol is XNS.
I had no trouble at all getting Emacs installed and it comes right up.
However, when rlogged in via the network, it does not see ANY keystrokes.
(TERM=ansi, by the way). Emacs sits there with its sign-on message (or
the head of the file you specify to visit), but you can't do anything
with it. Meanwhile, if you dial in with 'cu' (TERM=ansi), everything
works fine.
Thanks
