Our site did not receive part 10 of the 15 part Hack source. We'd appreciate if someone who has the source could send it here via mail. Thanks in advance, Ed Friedman

I've been having a bit 'o trouble installing hack. I can run it from the directory where it resides, but mklev cannot create any other user files. Would someone please send me a list of the steps they used to successfully install hack. Many thanks in advance. ihnp4!dicomed!john -- - john salmi - dicomed corporation - minneapolis - {ihnp4 | mgnetp | uwvax}!dicomed!john

(I am redirecting this to net.games.hack, where it belongs.) There was a request as to how to install hack so it would run on other than its "home" directory. I know part of the answer to this, and am pretty sure about the rest. 1. Change all the path names to something like /usr/games/lib/hack/... 2. Create /usr/games/lib/hack, and make it group writable (by some innocuous group). Move all the relevant files (help, mklev, ...) there. 3. Make /usr/games/hack setGID to the innocuous group above. You should now be able to run hack in any directory that you have write access to. (If it still creates the level files in the local dir.) This procedure worked here, anyway. We're running 4.2Bsd. =S -- =Spencer ({ihnp4,decvax}!utah-cs!thomas, thomas@utah-cs.ARPA) <<< Silly quote of the week >>>
