[gnu.emacs] detex.el and other spell-filter's for latex

Can anyone suggest an emacs spell-filter which will remove latex
text-processor commands?  One such emacs lisp program exists called
`detex.el' written by Bengt Martensson:

Can anyone suggest whether there are any other emacs spell-filter's
or whether this one is indeed the best for the job of handling latex
documents?
